Prigozhin’s bloggers criticize the Ministry of Defence for inadequate response in the Belgorod region – ISW
Some Russian pro-war bloggers are using the situation in the Belgorod region to criticize the Russian leadership.
This was stated by analysts of the US Institute for the Study of War (ISW).
One blogger associated with Wagner’s private military company said that the Russian Ministry of Defence does not treat the Belgorod region as Russian territory. According to him, for the Russian General Staff, the Belgorod region is just another territory that has suffered from shelling.
Instead of taking decisive action in the region, the Russian Ministry of Defence only announces lists of victims.
The blogger called on the Ministry of Defence not to lie to Russians about the situation in the area.
The Russian Ministry of Defence’s obsession with presenting Russian troops and military commanders as true defenders of Russia reflects internal anxiety in the information space about the upcoming counter-offensive of Ukraine, analysts say.
As a reminder, on 22 May, the RVC and LSR launched an operation in the Belgorod region of the Russian Federation.
The Russian Volunteer Corps reported the destruction of a border checkpoint in the Belgorod region. Later, Russian legionnaires announced the “complete liberation of the settlements of Kozynka and Hora Podil”. After that, the fighting for Hraivoron began.
The ISW stressed that the situation in the Belgorod region was a real shock for the Russian information space.
On 1 June, fighting broke out near the border town of Shebekino in the Belgorod region of the Russian Federation.
