The head of the Pentagon, Lloyd Austin, has no doubt that Ukraine will join NATO after the end of the war with Russia.

He stated this in an interview with CNN in Vilnius after the summit in the Lithuanian capital.

– We heard that almost every country talked about this – Austin said, emphasizing at the same time that “there is still work to be done” to bring Ukrainian equipment and training up to the block’s standards.

According to him, this work is already underway, but “even more needs to be done so that Ukraine has a full set of means and opportunities.”

At the NATO summit held in Vilnius on July 11-12, Ukraine did not receive a direct invitation to the bloc.

Military support for Ukraine, the creation of the Ukraine-NATO Council and the cancellation of the MAP were announced – one of the stages on the way to membership.
