The world order that emerged after the end of the Cold War can be considered as finally destroyed. The world is now at another turning point in history.

This was stated by US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken in a speech at the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies.

– This is more than just a test of the post-Cold War order. This is its end. Decades of relative geopolitical stability have given way to increased competition with authoritarian states,” the US Secretary of State said.

In his opinion, Russia’s war against Ukraine has demonstrated an acute threat to the international order.

However, he noted that China poses a more serious long-term challenge, as it has economic, diplomatic, military and technological power at its disposal.

Blinken believes that US actions stand in stark contrast to the regimes of Russian dictator Vladimir Putin and Chinese leader Xi Jinping. He pointed out that one era is now ending and a new one is beginning.

According to Blinken, the decisions made will determine the future for decades to come, and competitors see a world defined by regime enrichment. He is convinced that the contrast between these two approaches is obvious, and the stakes in the confrontation are much higher for the world.
