Hungary does not consider any progress in the matter of negotiations regarding Ukraine’s further accession to the European Union to be appropriate.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Hungary, Péter Szijjártó, said that Ukraine is allegedly not suitable for EU membership until there is peace.

According to him, Ukraine allegedly did not fulfill the conditions for a candidate for EU membership, so Hungary does not consider any further steps related to accession negotiations to be timely.

– The war in Ukraine continues. Freedom of speech is not respected. Elections are not held. It would be absurd if, in such conditions, the institutions of the European Union or its members would express a position on how institutions of the rule of law operate in Ukraine, – said the politician.

Sijarto noted that until there is peace in Ukraine, the country will allegedly not be ready for membership in the European Union. He declared that the war allegedly started by Russia will enter the EU together with Ukraine.
