The Russian Federation is suffering significant losses in the war against Ukraine. Although Russia is trying to conceal the number of killed servicemen, it has become known that about 200 pilots are among them.

According to the Russian service of the BBC, the largest losses are among motorized riflemen and the Russian Airborne Forces. The journalists came to these conclusions after analyzing information from open sources.

In particular, investigators and volunteers have counted at least 36,325 liquidated occupiers since February 2022. This is a list of deceased persons by name, so this number is much lower than the number reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

According to the journalists, the number of eliminated Russian soldiers could be much higher – at least twice as many. They made this statement in view of the situation at cemeteries in 70 Russian settlements.

According to the lowest estimates, about 72,650 Russians may have been killed. This number does not include militants of the so-called DPR and LPR.

The publication says that more professional Russian military personnel have been dying lately. For example, after the start of the counteroffensive from June to the end of October, Russian losses increased by 370 officers, including two generals.

Investigators claim that Russia has lost at least 197 pilots during the war. Over the 600 days of the full-scale invasion, Ukrainian soldiers destroyed more than 300 airplanes and 300 helicopters.
