On Thursday, the US Congress sent President Joe Biden to sign a bill designed to prevent a partial shutdown of government agencies.

Congressmen managed to vote on the document only one day before the shutdown , which was supposed to occur on January 20.

Thus, the House of Representatives voted 314 for and 108 against to continue financing the government, despite the resistance of some Republicans. Earlier, the Senate also supported the draft law by a majority of votes – 77 to 18.

Watching now

Senator Chuck Schumer, Democrat of New York and the majority leader, said: There will be no shutdown on Friday. Thanks to the joint work of both parties, the government will continue to work. The work of the agency will not be disrupted. We will avoid an unnecessary disaster.

The approval of the draft law gives lawmakers six more weeks to negotiate and approve more than a dozen spending documents totaling $1.66 trillion. This would make it possible to keep most of the federal spending at the previous level and at the same time strengthen the armed forces.

We would like to remind that among American legislators, discussions are still ongoing regarding President Joe Biden’s request for financing Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan. On December 7, the Senate failed a procedural vote on starting work on a document on the provision of emergency aid in the amount of about $106 billion.
