Shelling of the Podilskyi district of Kyiv: 8 people were killed, the Prosecutor’s Office of Ukraine initiated the case

The Prosecutor’s Office of Ukraine launched an investigation concerning enemy’s night rocket attacks in the Podilskyi district of Kyiv. The case was initiated due to the fact of violation of the laws and customs of war, combined with premeditated murder (part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

At the night of March 20, the Russian military, using the means of warfare prohibited by international law, fired rockets at the Podilskyi district of Kyiv.

As a result of enemy shelling and fire, a shopping mall was destroyed, windows in neighboring residential buildings and cars parked nearby were damaged.

According to preliminary information, eight persons were killed. Rescuers and law enforcement officers are working on the spot, documenting the crime.

According to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, as of 11.40 a.m., the fire in a shopping mall in the Podilskyi district was eliminated. In addition to the eight dead, rescuers report one injured person.

Furthermore on the afternoon of March 20, a shell from the occupying army of the Russian Federation hit a residential courtyard in the Sviatoshynskyi district of Kyiv, as a result of which six people were injured, two of them were hospitalized.

Two houses received significant damage, and windows were shattered in six surrounding buildings by the blast wave. In addition, the premises of two schools and two kindergartens were damaged. More than 200 residents of damaged houses were evacuated.
