Uses food as a weapon: Kyslytsya compared Putin to Stalin

Russian President Vladimir Putin is not the first dictator to use food as a weapon against the Ukrainian people. At one time, Stalin was already doing this.

This opinion was expressed by the Representative of Ukraine to the UN Serhiy Kyslytsya at a meeting of the Security Council on the humanitarian situation in Ukraine.

– Putin is not the first dictator to use food as a weapon against the Ukrainian people, – he said. Moscow’s ideological apostle Stalin killed millions of Ukrainians 90 years ago during an artificially organized Great Famine. It is not surprising that Putin, who respects Stalin as his ancestor, uses the same practice, – he said.

Serhiy Kyslytsya added that Russian troops were shelling the agricultural infrastructure in Ukraine, polluting Ukrainian soils, attacking fuel depots and, accordingly, disrupting the sowing campaign.

According to him, interruptions in food supplies from Ukraine, as one of the largest exporters, pose a threat to the whole world. Indeed, before the war, Ukraine exported more than 55% of all sunflower oil in the world, more than 55% of Ukrainian wheat went to Asia and 40% to African states.

In addition, Kyslytsya added that about 400 million people around the world, mainly in the Middle East, North Africa and Asia, depend on grain supplies from Ukraine.

Now all the seaports through which Ukraine exports 60% of agricultural products are blocked by Russia.
