Russian invaders stole radiation sources from the Chernobyl laboratories

Russian invaders in the Exclusion Zone looted two research laboratories, removed sources of ionizing radiation and fuel samples.
This was reported in the State Agency of Ukraine on Exclusion Zone Management. Thus, in Chernobyl there were two laboratories for research of current problems of radiation exposure, characteristics of substances.
According to them, the occupiers destroyed the laboratory in the Ecocenter, as well as entered the storage of ionizing radiation sources, which stored exemplary radioactive solutions and calibration sources.
They stole and damaged 133 sources of ionizing radiation with an activity of about 7 million Becquerels, which can be compared with 700 kg of radioactive waste with beta and gamma radiation.
– Even a small part of this activity is deadly if handled unprofessionally and uncontrollably, – the agency said.
The location of the stolen sources is currently unknown. The condition of damaged sources will be determined after inventory and measurements.
The State Agency suggested that the occupiers could have taken fuel samples and sources of ionizing radiation as souvenirs.
