In Bucha I saw bags with bodies of the killed, but it is too early to speak about proofs – the ICC prosecutor

The International Criminal Court has every reason to believe that crimes within the scope of the Rome Statute have been committed in Ukraine, in particular in Bucha and Borodyanka. This was stated by ICC Prosecutor Karim Khan at a joint briefing with Prosecutor General Iryna Venediktova.
– We saw bags with the bodies of those killed near the church in Bucha. I have not been to Mariupol and Kharkiv yet. So now it is too early to talk about evidence. Every prosecutor starts not with the result of the crime, but with the evidence, – he accented.
Khan also assured that he would make efforts to establish contact with Russia so that the investigation would be objective.
– I will try to reach the Russian Federation for the third time. The first casualty of the war is true. According to Article 54 of the Rome Statute, I must consider all allegations of crime. And the independent prosecutor and the court will already make a conclusion to establish the truth, – the prosecutor told.
According to him, all parties to the conflict must abide by the norms of the Rome Statute, justice must be on the side of humanity and no one who holds a weapon has the right to aim at the civilian population and civilian objects.
– Many people suffer from the war, they must receive justice, they have the right to life and justice. Regardless of ethnicity, we must establish justice for all, for everyone, – said the ICC prosecutor.
