The Russian army has started the battle for Donbas, but we will fight – Zelensky
The Russian army has begun the battle for Donbas, for which it has been preparing for a long time. This was stated by President Volodymyr Zelensky in an evening video address.
He noted that the Ukrainian army will defend itself, and we will not give the occupiers a single piece of our land.
– In the East and South of our state, the occupiers are trying to attack a little more deliberately than before. They are pressuring, looking for a weak spot in the defense of our state to find and enter there with the main forces. Apparently, Russian generals, accustomed to not counting losses, have already killed so many Russian soldiers that even they have to be careful, because there is no one left to attack. However, let them not hope that this will help them. This is only a matter of time when the entire territory of our state will be liberated from the occupiers, – said the President.
President said that Russia’s missile strikes on Ukraine were strategic nonsense and would only lead to Russia’s missile self-demilitarization.
Without imports, they can’t even do that. And when all the loopholes used to circumvent sanctions are closed and even tougher sanctions are imposed, restoring Russia’s missile capabilities will be unrealistic. That is, Russian missile strikes lead to only one thing – missile self-demilitarization of Russia, – he said.
Today, Zelensky met with President of the Republic of Lithuania Gitanas Nauseda, Prime Ministers of Bulgaria and Croatia, and held an important meeting on the postwar reconstruction and development of Ukraine.
– We are developing a comprehensive plan that provides for the reconstruction of the destroyed, modernization of state structures and the maximum acceleration of Ukraine’s development. It is not just about the amount of physical work – to build housing, rebuild businesses, start a new business that will work to rebuild infrastructure and renew economic relations in our country. But also about rethinking how our country will develop in the future, – said Zelensky.
Traditionally, in the evening the President signed a decree on awarding Ukrainian heroes. 192 soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were awarded state awards, 24 of them posthumously.
