Massive shelling of Luhansk region: 36 houses and hospital in Severodonetsk damaged in 24 hours
During the past 24 hours, Russian troops have continued mass shelling of the Luhansk region. The occupiers came under fire from a hospital, a chemical plant and dozens of houses.
The head of the Luhansk regional military administration Serhiy Haidai reported about it.
He noted that the Russian invaders tried unsuccessfully to establish control over the town of Rubizhne and the village of Voevodivka. And the assault on the Nyzhne (Hirska hromada) ended in numerous losses in the ranks of the occupiers (in equipment and among personnel).
In total, eight enemy attacks were repulsed in Donbas over the past 24 hours. Ukrainian troops destroyed tanks, artillery systems, armored combat vehicles and special engineering equipment of the Russian Federation.
– The “creeping tactics” of the Russians do not work: even broken – Luhansk region is not conquered. Unsuccessful assaults on the enemy result in massive shelling of the region’s housing stock, Haidai stressed.
Thus, according to the Luhansk RMA, Russian invaders fired at residential areas of the region 24 times a day. The infrastructure of the Hirska, Popasna communities and the city of Severodonetsk suffered a lot of damage.
In particular, a hospital in the old part of the city came under fire from the occupiers in Severodonetsk. The building was damaged.
In addition, enemy artillery attacks on the Severodonetsk chemical plant Azot continue. After each shelling, pyrotechnics check the company’s industrial sites for unexploded ordnance. No explosives were found on May 6.
In addition, 36 more houses were destroyed or damaged during the day due to shelling by Russian troops. According to Haidai, 11 houses were destroyed in Zolote, 10 – in Popasna, 5 multi-storey buildings – in Severodonetsk, 4 – in Rubizhne.
In Lysychansk, two houses can no longer be restored. In addition, there was a fire at the service station in this city.
There is information about the destruction of residential buildings as a result of enemy shelling in Hirska and Orikhovo.
– There are still enough people in the region. There are high-rise buildings where only one person currently lives, but there are cases when dozens of neighbors did not leave. The Russians are beating them, – Haidai stressed.
As Oleksiy Arestovych, an adviser to the head of the President’s Office, said the day before, Russian troops will try to reach the borders of Luhansk region by May 9. At the same time, the occupiers are unable to advance in the Izyum or Avdiivka districts.
And the head of the military-civil administration of Severodonetsk Oleksandr Stryuk informed that the enemy was trying to surround the city and carry out an assault from several directions.
