The occupiers destroyed the Skovoroda Museum in the Kharkiv Region. An employee was injured
On the night of May 7, the Russian military destroyed the H.S. Skovoroda National Literary Memorial Museum in the village of Skovorodynivka, Kharkiv region.
A 35-year-old man who oversaw the museum was injured.
The occupiers aimed at the roof of the museum at 11:10 p.m. on May 6. After that, a fire immediately broke out in an area of 280 square meters.
At midnight, rescuers localized the fire. The fire was completely extinguished at 08.05 on May 7.
According to the head of the regional military administration Oleh Sinegubov, the most valuable exhibits of the collection were saved – they were moved to a safe place in advance.
– This year marks 300 years since the birth of the great philosopher. The occupiers can destroy the museum where Hryhoriy Skovoroda worked and was buried in the last years of his life. But they will not destroy our memory and our values! – notes Oleh Sinegubov.
Shortly before the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, the museum completed restoration work before the anniversary (Hryhoriy Skovoroda was born on December 3, 1722, – Ed.).
– There are not enough words to convey our anger, there is no excuse for the actions of Russian barbarians! – noted in Zolochiv village council.
According to the regional military administration, on May 6, Russian invaders fired at Kharkiv three times from multiple rocket launchers and artillery. Northern Saltivka and the Industrial District (HTZ) were affected.
In addition, the Russian army launched a missile strike on units of the Defense Forces and blew up three road bridges in Tsyrkuny and Ruskie Tyszki to slow down the counter-offensive of the Armed Forces.
Ukrainian defenders hold their positions and repel the enemy.
It will be recalled that the Hryhoriy Skovoroda Museum is not the first institution destroyed by the occupiers on February 24, 2022.
On the fourth day of the full-scale invasion, the local history museum in the town of Ivankove, Kyiv region, caught fire as a result of the fighting.
The works of the famous Ukrainian folk artist Maria Pryimachenko were kept there.
