The offensive was stopped: the Russian army moved to the defense in the area of Kharkiv and Izyum

Despite the significant advantages of Russian troops, both in personnel and weapons, the Armed Forces managed to stop the Russian offensive, and in some areas the enemy moved to the defense.
This was announced at a briefing by Brigadier General, Deputy Chief of the Main Operations Department of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksiy Gromov.
– The Armed Forces of Ukraine together with other components of the Defense Forces have now stopped and restrained a large-scale offensive of the Russian Federation, whose armed forces dominated in some areas 10 times not only in the personnel of our units, but also in armaments and military equipment, – he said.
According to him, this was possible due to a set of measures to respond to a critical increase in the level of a military threat, as well as active maneuvering defense.
Gromov said that after an unsuccessful attempt to encircle Kharkiv, Russia moved to the defense, a similar situation in the Izyum direction, so the enemy is now transferring its forces to the Luhansk direction.
As a result of our active actions to liberate the occupied territories in the Kherson and Melitopol areas, the enemy has moved to the defense and is currently conducting deterrent actions, – the general added.
At the same time, there is still a threat of a naval landing operation in the Black Sea Operational Zone, because, as Gromov noted, warships and submarines of the Russian Federation continue to be stationed in the Black and Azov Seas.
The General Staff predicts that further Russian aggressors will try to take control of Odessa, Mykolaiv and partly Zaporizhia regions, as well as create a land corridor to the Transnistrian region of Moldova, the enemy did not abandon plans to capture Kyiv.
Gromov called Russia’s losses in the war with Ukraine: about 20% of personnel and up to 60% of the main weapons and equipment.
