Zelenskyi signed a law on confiscation of assets for support of Russian aggression

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi has signed a law on increasing the effectiveness of sanctions related to the assets of individuals. It provides for the confiscation of assets from those who support Russian aggression.
This document establishes a new type of sanctions as a penalty of assets belonging to a natural or legal person and assets that it can dispose of directly or indirectly in a state income.
The law defines clear criteria by which a person can be included in the circle of persons subjected to these restrictions.
– The procedure of identifying and confiscating the assets of under-sanctioned persons who, in one way or another, support the aggression of the occupiers against Ukraine will allow to quickly and effectively replenish the Ukrainian budget at the expense of enemies. The law provides clear instructions for the authorities responsible for this process. I hope for productive interaction of all its participants, – the president said.
The law signed by Volodymyr Zelenskyi provides that the Ministry of Justice will be responsible for finding assets and asking the court.
It shall organize work to identify and search for the assets to be blocked of individuals and legal entities specified in the decisions of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine.
The High Anti-Corruption Court (HACC) will consider cases of sanctions in the form of a penalty of assets in a state income.
