The looting continues: the occupiers began to export metal from Mariupol

Азовсталь

The Russian occupiers continue to loot in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine. Following the theft of grain, they began to export metal products from the occupied city of Mariupol (Donetsk region).

The Commissioner for Human Rights of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Lyudmyla Denisova informed about it.

– Following the theft of Ukrainian grain, the occupiers resorted to the export of metal products from Mariupol. To do this, they demined part of the city’s seaport, – said the ombudsman.

According to her, the Russian invaders send 3,000 tons of metal products by the first ship from Mariupol to Russia (to Rostov-on-Don). Before the capture of the city in the port was up to 200 thousand tons of metal and cast iron worth $ 170 million.

The occupiers are trying to restore the railway connection in Volnovakha and Mariupol to facilitate the removal of the stolen property in Ukraine.

Denisova stressed that the actions of the occupiers are a violation of the IV Geneva Convention of 1949 for the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War, as well as the Rome Statute.

The ombudsman called on the UN Commission of Inquiry into Human Rights Violations during Russia’s military invasion of Ukraine to take into account the facts of these war crimes.

As you know, since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Putin’s troops have begun mass looting in Ukraine. All looted occupiers send to the Russian Federation.

In addition to Ukrainian property, Russian invaders are stealing Ukrainian grain, which they are trying to sell to other countries. In particular, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy spoke about this.

The Ukrainian leader noted that 22 million tons of crops, including grain, were blocked in Ukrainian ports. And if they are not unlocked for export, a food crisis awaits the world.

Zelenskyy suggested creating an organization to prevent world hunger, a platform for which Ukraine could become.
