Killed in 1-2 shots: photographer Max Levin could be executed by the Russian military
Photojournalist Max Levin and military serviceman Alexei Chernyshov were cold-bloodedly executed by the Russian military.
This was reported by RSF in its investigation.
– Evidence gathered by the RSF shows that Ukrainian photojournalist Max Levin and his friend who was with him were executed by the Russian military. This probably happened after interrogations and tortures on the day of their disappearance – March 13, 2022, – investigators explain.
RSF reporters came to this conclusion after returning to the place where Levin and Chernyshov’s bodies were found on April 1. The group counted 14 bullet holes in the charred part of their car.
According to investigators, Levin was probably killed by one or two shots at close range, and Chernyshov could have been burned alive, as evidenced by evidence, including the location of his body.
RSF also found traces of Russian troops nearby: food packaging and plastic cutlery that may still contain traces of DNA.
According to the RSF, Levin and Chernyshov were looking for a missing photographer’s drone in a forest where the Russian army was stationed.
RSF speculates that the killing could have been committed by soldiers of the 106th Airborne Division or special forces. Colonel Volodymyr Seliverstov commands the 106th Division. They passed the relevant evidence to the Ukrainian authorities.
The disappearance of Max Levin became known on March 22. He and military leader Alexei Chernyshov traveled to Guta Mezhyhirsk, on March 13 to document the consequences of Russia’s military aggression.
On April 2, it became known that Max Levin had died – the body of the murdered photojournalist was found in the village of Guta in Kyiv region.
