In Ukraine, the number of children killed by Russian troops has risen to 339
Ukraine has seen an increase in the number of children killed or injured during Russia’s full-scale war.
This is evidenced by the data of the Office of the Prosecutor General, released as of the morning of June 25.
Compared to the previous day, the number of dead Ukrainian children increased from 338 to 339, and the number of injured – from 610 to 611.
– As of the morning of June 25, 2022, more than 950 children were injured in Ukraine as a result of full-scale armed aggression by the Russian Federation in our country. According to official information from juvenile prosecutors, 339 children were killed and more than 611 were injured, the report said.
In particular, during the recording of crimes by Russian troops, it became known about the death of a family with a 14-year-old son. It happened on March 9 during the Russian air attack on the city of Izyum (Kharkiv region).
In addition, it was established that on April 6 in the village of Vilkhivka, Kharkiv region, a 16-year-old boy was injured as a result of artillery shelling by the Russian Federation.
Most children were affected in nine regions of Ukraine: Donetsk region (335), Kharkiv (179), Kyiv (116), Chernihiv (68), Luhansk (55), Kherson (52), Mykolaiv (48), Zaporizhzhia (31) and Sumy (17) regions.
The agency stressed that the figures are not final. Currently, work is underway to establish the crimes of the Russian Federation in places of active fighting, in the temporarily occupied and liberated territories.
The Office of the Prosecutor General reminded that information about the war crimes of Russian invaders against a child can be provided through a single evidence hub warcrimes.gov.ua.
Ukraine’s infrastructure is also suffering from the bombing and shelling of Russian troops. In particular, 2,061 educational institutions were damaged (213 were completely destroyed).
