Relatives of more than 750 Ukrainian prisoners of war asked for help in their search – Polozov

Human rights defender, lawyer Mykola Polozov reported that the relatives of more than 750 Ukrainian prisoners of war turned to the Poshuk.Polon project for help with their search.
– I joined forces with a number of human rights organizations, with which we are trying to search for prisoners of war and provide them with assistance. This is a humanitarian project called Poshuk.Polon. At the moment, less than two weeks after the launch, more than 750 applications have been received, – Polozov said on the air of the national telethon.
According to him, this is a huge number of people and very difficult work.
Currently, the participants of the initiative are engaged in the systematization of the received requests and in the near future plan to search for prisoners of war and, if necessary, provide them with both palliative and legal assistance.
He added that the chances of freeing Ukrainian soldiers from captivity are definitely there, and it is necessary to act quickly.
This applies even to those prisoners of war who ended up in the so-called L/DPR, since a precedent involving the Russian lawyer had already been created.
– We have brave people who are ready to go there and provide the necessary assistance. We intend to use this chance, as prisoners of war need protection, – the lawyer emphasized.
He noted that a number of non-profit organizations that have certain resources help them financially.
– Of course, these resources will not be enough to protect 6 or 7 thousand people, but we use all available resources to protect as many Ukrainian prisoners of war as possible and to provide assistance and support to as many as possible, – he noted.
The lawyer added that the Russian Federation is trying to create a propaganda product with the help of prisoners of war from Ukraine.
– This also applies to the so-called pseudo-tribunals, where the domestic Russian consumer will be fed a media story… But when it comes to persons who are of interest to Russia and were in Ukrainian captivity, then, of course, the picture goes to the background, to the first – a bare calculation comes out, – Polozov explained.
According to him, it is quite obvious that the Russian authorities do not need such a large number of Ukrainian prisoners of war.
– They are detained so that they do not return to Ukraine, do not rejoin the ranks of the Armed Forces, and do not defend their Motherland with weapons in their hands. Most prisoners of war will be returned or exchanged in one way or another. But a few will be prosecuted in the tribunals for creating a propaganda image and they first of all need to be provided with legal assistance, – Mykola Polozov explained.
He specified that it is most likely about the commanders, representatives of the Azov regiment and media persons, whom the Russian authorities will use in their propaganda shows.
