Ukraine needs 100 HIMARS and M270 for an effective counteroffensive – Reznikov
In order to deter Russian aggression, Ukraine needs at least 50 HIMARS and M270 systems. And for an effective counteroffensive, our country needs at least 100 such systems.
This was announced by the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Oleksiі Reznikov.
– These systems allowed us to destroy about 30 command posts and ammunition depots when we started with only 8 HIMARS systems. As far as I know, we will have more of them. This significantly slowed the Russian offensive and sharply reduced the intensity of their artillery fire. So it’s worth it. We are grateful to our partners for HIMARS and M270. To effectively deter the enemy, we need at least 50 such systems, given that our front is almost 2,500 km, which is the distance between Barcelona and Warsaw, – Reznikov said.
The minister explained that the positions of the Russian Federation are far from Ukrainian positions, so Ukraine needs missile systems with a range of more than 100-150 km to hit them.
– Long-range systems would allow us to completely destroy logistics and quickly cut off the Russian military from their support, – noted Reznikov.
