As a result of Russian shelling, a total of 9,693.63 hectares of crop fields were damaged in the Zaporizhzhya region.

Oleksandr Starukh, the head of the RAO of the Zaporizhzhya region, stated this.

– Since July 1, grain crops on an area of 1,561.63 hectares have been damaged by fires in Zaporizhzhya district as a result of shelling and arson in 15 agricultural enterprises, in Pologiv district in 13 agricultural enterprises – on an area of 8,132 hectares. A total of 9,693.63 hectares were damaged. This is quite a large number. Approximately 30-40 thousand tons of grain. Approximate losses related to this issue alone – UAH 340 million. The last time Ukrainian fields burned like this was during the invasion of the German Nazis. Now they are burned by the Rashists, – says Starukh.

He also noted that, despite this, a normal harvest – up to 700,000 tons – will be harvested on the unoccupied part.

Watching now

– Last year there were 5 million tons throughout the region. The main agrarian part of our cereals is on the contact line or behind the contact line. They simply steal or buy grain crops there for pennies, he says.

In addition, Starukh assures that now there is grain, the region will have bread, and this year’s reserves are secured. However, the question arises as to what will happen to the seed company next year.

– Given the current situation, the question arises as to what will happen to the next year’s sowing campaign. We can face the fact that people will not just have the motivation, but also physically will not have the resources to do it. Then there will be issues with providing the population with the grain group of food, – reports the head of the RAO.
