The United States will provide $89 million to Ukraine for demining territories

The U.S. Department of State announced its intention to allocate 89 million dollars to help Ukraine in demining its territories.
This is stated in the message of the U.S. Department of State dated August 9.
– Russia’s illegal and unprovoked invasion of Ukraine has left vast areas of the country littered with landmines, unexploded ordnance and improvised explosive devices. The grotesque use of improvised explosive devices in the form that we observe in Ukraine by Russian subjects was previously associated only with ISIS in Syria, – the report says.
The U.S. Department of State added that explosive devices block access to fertile agricultural land, delay recovery efforts, prevent displaced persons from returning to their homes, and continue to kill and maim innocent Ukrainian citizens.
– American funding will enable the deployment of about 100 demining teams and will support a large-scale training and equipment project to strengthen the capacity of the Ukrainian government in the field of demining and disposal of explosive ordnance, – the message says.
According to the estimates of the government of Ukraine, 160 thousand sq. km of land may be contaminated. In the U.S. Department of State, such territories were compared with the area of the states of Virginia, Maryland and Connecticut combined.
