The latest order of the Russian president to increase the Russian army’s size is unlikely to significantly impact its capabilities in the war against Ukraine.

This is the opinion of the British Defence Intelligence Service.

They recalled Putin’s order of August 25, in which he ordered to increase the Russian army by 140,000 men and instructed the government to allocate appropriate funds for this purpose.

– It remains unclear whether Russia will try to do this by recruiting more volunteers or increasing conscription. But in any case, under current legislation, this order is unlikely to significantly help Russia increase its combat capabilities in Ukraine,” the intelligence service said.

They explained that Russia had lost tens of thousands of military personnel, there are not many new contract servicemen, and conscripts, at least technically, are not obliged to fulfill tasks outside the territory of the Russian Federation.
