The Armed Forces will methodically wear down the Russian Federation in the South – analysts on the counteroffensive
Deliberately methodical exhaustion of the forces and logistical support of the Russian army in the South is the primary goal of the counteroffensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
This is reported by analysts of the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).
Experts assume that the Armed Forces do not set themselves the task of immediately vacating large areas.
And to confirm that they are not mistaken in their forecasts, the adviser of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Oleksiy Arestovych, is quoted as saying that the goal of the Ukrainian forces in the South is “systematic grinding of Putin’s army.”
The adviser of the Office of the President of Ukraine claims that the Armed Forces of Ukraine aim to systematically destroy Russia’s operational logistics system with artillery strikes and high-precision weapons.
– Arestovych’s statement echoes ISW’s assessment that the counteroffensive is unlikely to have immediate gains, – the Institute for the Study of War notes.
And all because of this, American experts continue, that Ukrainian forces seek to disrupt key logistical hubs of Russia in the South and reduce the military potential of the Russian army.

Other Western analysts, commenting on The Wall Street Journal, also stated that Kyiv can make progress, even if it is gaining ground at a moderate pace.
During the counteroffensive, they believe, Ukraine will force Russia to reveal the location of its troops and supply bases, take a defensive position, and transfer forces from other parts of the country.
This is the essence of the broader strategy of Ukraine’s counteroffensive in the South – to keep the forces of the occupiers from Kharkiv to Crimea under tension.
