The Pentagon saw encouraging signs in the counteroffensive of the Armed Forces in the Kherson region

A senior Pentagon official said that the counteroffensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which began on September 1 in the Kherson region, showed that the Ukrainians are “creatively” integrating the military potential provided by the United States and other countries into their operations.
– We are very closely monitoring the progress of the counterattack, as you can imagine. I think we’ve seen some encouraging signs, especially in the last day or two. But again, the Russians are a tough adversary, and I think there’s a long battle ahead, – said US Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Policy Sasha Baker.
For the first time, the US Department of Defense called the Ukrainian operation a counteroffensive, something it had previously avoided, including US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Mark Milley.
