Russia repeated in Izyum what it did in Buchа – Zelenskyy
In the Kharkiv Oblast, investigative actions are ongoing in the areas that were liberated from the Russian occupation. All the crimes of the invaders are recorded.
This was stated by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyу during an evening video address.
– Torture chambers were found in which civilians of the occupied cities and towns were abused, premises in which people were kept – even foreigners. In particular, seven citizens of the Republic of Sri Lanka, students of the Kupyansk Medical College, – he said.
Zelenskyy says that Russian soldiers captured them back in March and subsequently kept people in the basement. Only now, after the liberation of Kharkiv Oblast , these people were saved, they are provided with proper medical care.
The exhumation of bodies at the mass burial site near Izyum is currently underway. As of this time, more than 440 graves have been established. At the same time, it is too early to talk about the number of people buried there.
– There is already clear evidence of torture and abuse of people. Moreover, there is evidence that Russian soldiers, whose positions were not far from this place, shot at the buried just for fun. The world must react to all this. Russia repeated in Izyum what it did in Bucha. And now we have just begun to learn the full truth about what was happening in the Kharkiv Oblast at that time, – the president emphasized.
He reminded that the UN is already preparing a group of workers who will visit this place near Izyum and see what the Russian terrorists did.
We will remind that a mass burial was discovered in Izyum, liberated from the occupiers.
Dmytro Lubinets, the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights, reported that the Ukrainian soldiers who were in the occupied Izyum in the Kharkiv Region were tortured before mass murder and burial.
