They electrocuted and burned crosses on the body: the SBU received testimony about torture in Kupyansk

A resident of Kupyansk, who was illegally imprisoned by the Russian occupation forces, told the SBU about the torture he had to endure.

According to the SBU, everyone who was interrogated by employees of the Russian FSB had to go through bullying.

During interrogations, the names and addresses of ATO participants, territorial defense fighters, and people who had a pro-Ukrainian position were “beat out” from local residents. Detainees were threatened with execution on a minefield and massacre of families that remained under occupation.

– There was always a lot of shouting from this room. During the first interrogation, they beat me with electric shock for 40 minutes, they shot me either with a pneumatic gun or a gas gun, I don’t know – I was in a bag. They were beaten with bats or iron pipes. Some had crosses burned on their bodies with soldering irons. The FSB employees did what they wanted, – said a resident of Kupyansk, Kharkiv region.

According to the SBU, the conditions in the cells were terrible. There were eight detainees in a small room designed for two people.

Currently, the Security Service is carrying out operational and investigative actions to identify all residents of the de-occupied territories who suffered from torture by the occupiers.
