They pulled out nails and hit the head with a door: how the Russians tortured Sri Lankan citizens in the Kharkiv region

Citizens of Sri Lanka, who were captured by the Russian invaders during the occupation of the Kharkiv region, spoke about the atrocities of the Russians.
According to Serhiy Bolvinov, head of the Police Investigation Department in the Kharkiv region, among the foreigners were a woman and six men who were in Kupyansk at the beginning of the full-scale invasion.
They were afraid of the war, so they decided not to leave, but to hide. In May, they tried to reach Kharkiv on foot, but at the first checkpoint the Russians detained them, tied their hands, put bags on their heads and took them to a makeshift prison in Vovchansk.
– They were kept there in inhumane conditions, forced to work as cleaners. The woman was kept in solitary confinement for two months. Two of them had their nails torn off, one was hit on the head with a door, – the police said.
According to Bolvinov, аs the occupiers do not speak English, the foreigners did not understand what they wanted from them and what they were being tortured for.
But the Russians used the word “money” during torture. Judging by this, they demanded money from the detained.
After the deoccupation of Vovchansk, the foreigners again decided to walk to Kharkiv. On the way, they were met by a hotel security guard, who sheltered them and informed the Ukrainian police about it.
