Two or three NASAMS or Iris-T complexes would completely cover the sky over Kyiv – expert

Unfortunately, it is impossible to completely close the sky over Ukraine because the manufacturers of the best air defense systems give 85% efficiency in shooting down any aircraft, including missiles.
Oleksandr Kochetkov, a weapons expert, said this during a telethon.
– However, to cover Kyiv, for example, you need two or three complexes like NASAMS or Iris-T. This will cost about $150-$200 million. If we compare to what our allies spend on the maintenance of our refugees, these are incomparable amounts. They are an order of magnitude higher than providing us with air defense and creating conditions for people to come back and start working in Ukraine,” the expert explained.
Moreover, in his opinion, Ukraine can produce air defense elements with its allies because it has a unique base for this and thus strengthens its economy in such difficult times.
The Iris-T is a short-range air-to-air missile. It is equipped with an infrared homing head. The launch range of the IRIS-T is about 25 km.
NASAMS is a mobile surface-to-air missile system designed to counter missiles, aircraft, and other air targets at low and medium altitudes, ranging from up to 40 km.
