At least 41 Ukrainian prisoners of war died during the Russian terrorist attack in the temporarily occupied Olenivka (Donetsk region). However, these are not final data.

This was announced today during a press conference by the Chief of Staff of the Azov Regiment, Major Bohdan Krotevych (call sign Taurus).

He explained that the Azov officers, recently released from Russian captivity, did not know about the murder of their comrades in Olenivka until they returned to the territory controlled by the Ukrainian authorities.

Watching now

– We found out about Olenivka in Chernihiv when our comrades told us, Krotevych said.

Currently, Azov is compiling its own lists of those killed during the terrorist attack. So far, the names of 41 soldiers who were probably killed in Olenivka are known. However, this data may be incomplete, the work of collecting information is ongoing.

As you know, Russian propaganda informed about more than 50 dead.

– First, I was given the lists that the Russian Federation had published. So far we have conducted surveys, they are not yet complete. According to the lists of the Russian Federation, there are, in my opinion, 53 people, or 54. According to our lists, so far 41 are military personnel. But we did not interview everyone, the lists are being compiled, work is underway, Krotevych emphasized.

He specified that, according to eyewitnesses, after the terrorist attack, the occupiers took seriously injured people to the hospital, and their further fate is unknown.

– People saw that during the terrorist attack in Olenivka, the wounded man was taken to the hospital, he was seriously wounded, but alive. After that, his fate is unknown. Therefore, there will be such painful questions, especially from families, but unfortunately, we will not be able to give a clear, 100 percent answer now. We will try, Krotevych noted.

He also informed that from the first day of release from captivity, the entire command staff of Azov is engaged in the rehabilitation of those released from captivity, as well as included in the process of exchange of prisoners.

The Acting Commander of the Azov Regiment, Major Mykyta Nadtochii, expressed сonfidence that the organizers and perpetrators of the murder of Ukrainian prisoners of war will be found and punished. Azov assured that they have “enough people on that side” who can provide data.

As you know, on the night of July 29, Russian troops carried out a terrorist attack on the territory of the former penal colony in occupied Olenivka, killing dozens of Ukrainian prisoners of war. The soldiers of the Azov regiment died, in particular. There is still no exact number of dead.

According to information from international experts, the occupiers used thermobaric weapons during the terrorist attack.
