Russia wants to strike at its gas transportation infrastructure and blame Ukraine for it, and then strike at the Ukrainian GTS, cutting off gas supplies to Europe.
This was stated by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in an interview with the German television company ZDF
– They (Russians) blew up the Nord Stream. Next they will blow up something – they do not care what it is. This is their style. They will blow up something and blame us to hit our gas transportation system. In this case, they will say: We were reacting.
After that he (Putin – Ed.) will tell Europe: There are no opportunities. We need to urgently launch Nord Stream 2, which you are not launching. He will say: You, Germans, do not give us this. You must lobby to lift the sanctions. Why? Because Europe will be left without gas because of Ukraine.
The President of Ukraine emphasized that everyone should know about such plans of Russia and speak about it especially now.
– Now we need a clear position: if Russia continues to undermine the energy system of Europe, although it is on the territory of Russia or Ukraine, deliberately provoking, we will not launch Nord Stream 2. And we will not lift sanctions.
On September 27, Denmark and Sweden recorded three damages on the Russian gas pipelines Nord Stream 1, 2 in the Baltic Sea. And shortly before the accident, seismologists recorded two explosions nearby.
On October 9, German police began investigating the damage to the Nord Stream gas pipelines. Currently, they are considering several versions of what could have caused the damage to the pipes. One of them is sabotage.
