Budanov: Blowing up Kakhovka dam will slow down the counteroffensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine for only two weeks

The head of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine (DIU) Kyrylo Budanov said that the undermining of the Kakhovka dam by the occupants will slow down the counteroffensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine for a while, but the North Crimean Canal and Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant will not be able to function due to the water spill.
Kyrylo Budanov said this in an interview with Ukrainska Pravda.
According to him, the dam is currently partially mined. But whether the occupiers will really dare to blow up the dam is very difficult to assess.
– I will say this: blowing up this dam will definitely cause an environmental disaster, this is a fact. There are just other aspects. First: why do it – what will they lose and what will they gain? And second: you can partially blow up the dam, or you can completely. So, to blow it up completely, such work has not been carried out, – said the Chief of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine.
Kyrylo Budanov said that tens of tons of explosives placed in the right places are needed to completely blow up the Kakhovka dam.
– You can not put KamAZ somewhere nearby, it will not do anything – Budanov said.
According to the Head of the DIU, having destroyed the dam completely, Russian invaders will completely flood the left bank of Kherson region.
In addition, the water supply to Crimea will stop until the dam is rebuilt, which will be impossible to do.
– And the most interesting thing is that they will destroy the existence of Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant, because this facility is inextricably linked with it (the dam and water supply – Ed.). And, of course, they will complicate our progress for a certain period of time. And this, by the way, is not a very long period of time, about two weeks,” Kyrylo Budanov stressed.
On October 20, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced Russia’s plans to blow up the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant.
