Russia probably intends to speed up the withdrawal of its troops from occupied Kherson. This was reported by British intelligence.

The agency named signs indicating that Russia was preparing for a corresponding step.

In particular, the intelligence service recalled that on October 27, the so-called governor of the occupied Kherson region, Volodymyr Saldo, appointed by the Russians, said that allegedly more than 70,000 people had left the city.

Also, on October 26, he said that Russia had taken the remains of the famous 18th-century Russian figure Grigory Potemkin from his tomb at a temple in Kherson.

– In Russian national consciousness, Potemkin is strongly associated with the conquest of Ukrainian lands in the 18th century. Intelligence suggests that this symbolic removal of his remains and the departure of the civilian population probably precede the Russian intention to hasten the withdrawal of troops from the region.

As a reminder, Galina Lugovaya, head of the Kherson city military administration, reported that the Russian military announced an “evacuation” from Kherson, after which people began to leave the city.

According to her, the occupiers themselves also take advantage of this. They disguise themselves in civilian clothes and run away.
