Stoltenberg: Russia’s attacks on Ukraine will not break Ukrainians, but push allies to increase aid

Russia’s brutal attacks on the civilian infrastructure of Ukraine will not break the Ukrainian people, and at the same time – it encourages the allies to provide Ukraine with more support.
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg stated this on November 29 in Bucharest.
He noted that the purpose of Russian strikes on infrastructure is to inflict as much suffering as possible on Ukrainian civilians in order to break their commitment and unity in opposing the Russian invasion.
– I am absolutely certain that President Putin will not succeed in getting the Ukrainian people, Ukrainian armed forces and Ukrainian leadership to back down, but will mobilize them even more. This pushes NATO Allies to do even more,” Stoltenberg said.
The NATO Secretary General stressed that it is necessary to ensure that Russia does not win, because if “Putin wins this war, the message will be that when authoritarian leaders use brute force, invading another country, violating international law, they can achieve their goals”. .
– This will be a tragedy for Ukraine, but it will also make the whole world more dangerous and vulnerable. It is in our interest to continue supporting Ukraine,” Stoltenberg emphasized.
He expressed hope that at the meeting in Bucharest “the message from all allies will be that we must do more – to help Ukraine repair the destroyed critical infrastructure, including gas supplies, and to help repel attacks as such”.
According to him, it is necessary to ensure that the air defense systems that have already been delivered are functioning. Therefore, it is necessary to supply spare parts and ammunition.
