Von der Leyen’s statement on Ukraine’s losses in the war with Russia clarified: it was about dead and wounded

The video statement of the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen removed the previously announced figures on Ukraine’s losses in the full-scale war with the Russian Federation.
Thus, in the edited version published on Twitter with a proposal to create a special court for Russia for its crimes, as well as with a call to use frozen Russian assets for the restoration of Ukraine, there is no more information about the dead.
It was published about half an hour after the original video. It is missing the phrase: “Approximately over 20,000 civilians and over 100,000 military have been killed to date”.
The moment of gluing in the video is obvious.
The situation was commented on by the representative of the President of Ukraine Serhiy Nikiforov, who said in a comment to Suspilne that only the Commander-in-Chief, the Minister of Defense or the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of Ukraine should voice reliable information about losses.
Nikiforov noted that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will release official data when the time is right, as this is sensitive information.
Meanwhile, the General Staff said they could not announce the losses of the Ukrainian army in a full-scale war against Russia. At the same time, they stressed the irreversibility of punishment for the aggressor country for the deaths and injuries of Ukrainian citizens.
Thus, the head of the Public Relations Department of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Bohdan Senyk said in a comment to the UP that they could not confirm the information provided by the EC President.
– If what was announced by the President of the European Commission allows to bring the aggressor country to justice, we can only support actions that will contribute to the legal punishment for those who committed genocide against the Ukrainian people, – he said.
It should be noted that there are two types of losses in the war: irreversible (dead) and sanitary (wounded and injured).
Later, the Director of Political Communications of the European Commission Dana Spinant reacted to the situation, explaining that the information about the losses was taken from unnamed “external sources”, and also thanked those who pointed out the “inaccuracy of the figures”.
– Thanks to those who pointed out the inaccuracy of the figures in the previous version of this video. The estimate used from external sources should refer to casualties, both dead and wounded, and should show Russia’s brutality,” Spinant wrote on Twitter.
