Ukraine has made important progress in the air defense issue – Zelenskyy
Ukraine regularly strengthens its anti-drone and anti-aircraft defenses, and this week there is significant progress in this regard.
This was stated by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in an address following the results on December 14.
At the beginning of the video, he thanked Ukrainian anti-aircraft fighters and the Air Force for repelling another Russian attack by Iranian drones this morning.
– The sky of the Kyiv region is defended by the 96th anti-aircraft missile brigade of the Air Force. I thank you guys, – said the president.
Zelenskyy reported that 13 Shahed-136s were shot down this morning.
The head of state said that he also held a meeting of the Staff of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief.
– We talked, in particular, about the protection of the sky. We are constantly strengthening our anti-aircraft and anti-drone defenses. And we are doing everything to get more modern and more powerful systems for Ukraine, – he said.
The President added that during this week, Ukraine has made important progress in the issue of air defense.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that special attention was paid to the situation in Donbas and other active areas on the front line .
– There is no peace on the front line. There is nothing easy and simple. Every day and every meter is given extremely hard. And especially where the entire tactic of the occupiers boils down to the destruction of everything in front of them with artillery, so that only bare ruins and sinkholes in the ground remain, – said the Ukrainian leader.
He stated that Russia is destroying city after city in Donbas: like Mariupol, like Volnovakha, like Bakhmut.
– To defend oneself in such conditions is not just heroism, it is something more. And I thank all our soldiers who withstand the pressure of the occupiers, – said the president.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy praised the fighters of the 46th separate airmobile brigade, who “very skillfully and very bravely defeated the enemy during another attack and forced them to retreat.”
Separately, the president praised the fighters of the 80th and 95th separate amphibious assault brigades, who are “very effectively” fighting in the Kreminsk direction.
Zelenskyy emphasized that the Ukrainian authorities are not reducing their activity in creating a special tribunal regarding Russian aggression and bringing all those responsible for it to justice.
– Today I called on our friends in Europe and members of the European Parliament to increase their efforts so that the tribunal will eventually work. The terrorist state must be responsible for every burned Ukrainian city, for every destroyed life of our people. And he will answer, – the president stressed.
The Ukrainian leader also talked about “very important” negotiations with UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres. According to Zelenskyy, the parties are currently working on organizing missions with an international mandate to critical energy infrastructure facilities in Ukraine.
Zelenskyy also commented on the return of 64 Ukrainians from Russian captivity, including four officers and 60 privates and sergeants.
– There are seriously injured among them. We provide adequate assistance to everyone. We continue to work to free and return home every Ukrainian man and woman who are still being held in Russia, – the president said.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy separately thanked the Ukrainian scouts from Plast for the Bethlehem flame of peace, which they brought to Ukraine.
