The Armed Forces explained what Patriot air defense systems are capable of and how they will be deployed in Ukraine
Not all Patriot air defense systems are capable of hitting ballistic targets, like the Iskander-M, with which the Russian Federation attacks Ukraine.
Air Force spokesman Yuriy Ignat announced this on the air of Edinye News.
– We are talking about PAC 3, which can really hit ballistic missiles, such as Iskander-M, which are in service with the occupiers, – he says.
In addition, Ignat emphasized that the American Patriot air defense systems are among the best complexes in the world. The modification that the Ukrainians will receive from the USA is still unknown – it is not disclosed.
– We hope that it will be one of the best advanced systems capable of destroying not only aerodynamic, but also ballistic targets. One battery should be just the beginning, – says the spokesperson.
Ignat explained that one battery contains support vehicles and from four to eight launchers. There are four missiles in one launcher.
– The range of the Patriot is up to 150 km for aerodynamic purposes, – added the spokesman of the Air Force.
He noted that such air defense will be able to cover both the front line and critical infrastructure facilities. The decision on their location will be made by the higher military leadership of Ukraine.
