I see no point in talking to Putin – Estonian President
Estonian President Alar Karis said that he has no reason to meet with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin now.
When asked by a journalist whether the Estonian president has anything to talk about with Putin, he answered negatively.
– I have no reason to talk to Vladimir Putin. I have as a representative of a small neighboring country. We have seen that the leaders of bigger states have made various attempts, and all this has led to nothing. Diplomacy did not save us from war,” Karis said.
He said that sooner or later the parties will sit down at the negotiating table anyway. Either at the level of the presidents of Russia and Ukraine, or in another format.
Karis stressed that the peace will still have to be formally consolidated.
– And now I really see no reason to meet with Vladimir Putin. What should I tell him? Why tell him what they think on this side of the border? He knows it so well,” the Estonian President said.
