The GUR explained why the Russian Federation disrupted the exchange of prisoners on January 14

The Russian Federation disrupted the exchange of prisoners, which was to take place on Saturday, January 14, to sow panic among the Ukrainian population.
During the telethon, the representative of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, Andriy Yusov, stated this.
– In fact, exchanges are often postponed. But in this situation, we are dealing with the activation of racists in the sphere of IPSO to destabilize the country’s situation, particularly regarding Ukrainian prisoners of war. Unfortunately, the enemy also uses this topic, namely the grief of our defenders and their families, in order to sow panic or destabilize the situation somewhere, – he said.
According to Yusov, pro-Russian bots are very active now. In addition, there are a lot of information resources that the Russian Federation uses to collect data.
The GUR representative added that the work on exchanges continues and good news may appear soon, but such situations require silence.
On January 8, another exchange of prisoners took place between Ukraine and Russia. Another 50 Ukrainian defenders returned from Russian captivity. Currently, 1,646 people have been released from Russian captivity.
