Paris confirms purchase with Rome of 700 missiles for SAMP-T, which is being prepared for Ukraine
The French Ministry of Defense confirmed that Paris has signed an agreement with Rome to buy 700 anti-aircraft missiles intended for the SAMP-T air defense system, the one being prepared for Ukraine.
It is noted that this is a contract for the purchase of 700 Aster missiles.
– “The defense procurement agencies of the two countries informed the Franco-Italian consortium Eurosam, which includes Thales and MBDA, about the conclusion of the contract at the end of last year,” Reuters quoted the French Defense Ministry as saying.
Earlier, the French media reported that the French and Italian defense ministers had agreed to purchase 700 anti-aircraft missiles worth €2 billion during a personal meeting.
According to published data, these missiles are intended for the SAMP-T anti-aircraft missile system, which the countries are preparing to transfer to Ukraine.
