There will be airplanes too: Reznikov says what other weapons Ukraine will receive
The Minister of Defence, Oleksiy Reznikov, stated this at a press conference.
He noted that since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion, Ukraine had received all the necessary weapons except for airplanes.
– In the field of air and missile defense, we have various types of SAMs: Stinger, Starstreak, Eagles, Polish Piorun, German IRIS-T, Norwegian NASAMS, and French Crotale. We will receive SAMP/T-Mamba, a Franco-Italian project.
We are already training our crews on Patriot, which means we can intercept ballistic missiles. We have learned how to destroy Iranian drones, but this does not mean that this is enough for us. We need more and more. We are constantly talking about this with our partners, and we have very positive developments, – said the Minister of Defence.
Reznikov also noted that during his last visit to Paris, he and the French company Thales Group signed a memorandum on the supply of GM-200 radars to Ukraine.
– These radars can see fast-moving targets 250 kilometers ahead and 24 kilometers up, which is very important for our Air Force. We have also formed a tank coalition. We clearly understand how many tanks, when, and which country will give us. Tomorrow we will start training tank crews outside Ukraine on Leopard, – he said.
The Minister of Defence is confident that we will also have airplanes; the only question is what kind.
– Our partners say we need an aviation platform to protect the sky. This is also a component of missile and air defense. It can be an F-16, Gripen, or other aircraft. This is not so important for us now, as we will decide this at the export level with our partners. But I am convinced that we have the aircraft. The mission of providing Ukraine with modern platforms has been fulfilled, – Reznikov added.
