Ignat assessed the possibility of a massive Russian attack in the coming days
Yuriy Ihnat, a spokesman for the Ukrainian Air Force Command, believes that Russia will not launch a massive attack with hundreds of aircraft on Kyiv and Ukraine in general.
– There are many experts who talk about hundreds of planes. It will not happen. No one fights like that, this is not World War II. Modern warfare uses precision weapons, missile weapons, etc. Because those 40 airfields are located at different distances – 200, 300, 500, 700 kilometers from the border. The enemy has been using them to attack Ukraine since the first days of the war. That is why the group that was there at the beginning of the aggression has remained in approximately the same number,” he said on the air of United News.
Ihnat noted that even at the beginning of the invasion, the enemy used about a dozen aircraft in one direction.
– They flew in, launched a missile and bomb attack, lost a few planes and flew back. This was the story at the beginning of the aggression. Today, air defense is reinforced by modern Western systems, including man-portable air defense systems and heavy systems such as NASAMS, IRIS, etc. We are about to receive the next package of these systems from Ramstein, and air defense is being strengthened, as well as infantry air defense. Gepard… everything is already in place, everything is working. And no one will have an easy ride in the Ukrainian sky,” says Ihnat.
