Russian troops are probably preparing for new offensive actions in the area of the city of Vuhledar (Donetsk region), despite the heavy losses they suffered there earlier. However, it is unlikely that the occupiers will have the strength to make a breakthrough.
This was reported by the Ministry of Defense of Great Britain with reference to the data of British intelligence.
It is noted that Vuhledar again came under heavy fire from the Russian occupiers.
– There is a real possibility that Russia is preparing for new offensive actions in this area, despite the costly failed attacks at the beginning of February and at the end of 2022, – the message says.
The intelligence clarified that the group of troops of the Eastern Military District of the Russian Federation is still responsible for the “Vuhledar Operation”. Its commander, Colonel-General Rustam Muradov, is likely to be under a lot of pressure: he is expected to perform better after being heavily criticized by the Russian nationalist community for earlier failures near Vuhledar.
– However, it is unlikely that Muradov has the striking power capable of achieving a breakthrough, – the message emphasizes.
British intelligence also commented on the situation near Bakhmut. Heavy fighting has been going on there for the past 48 hours. Ukrainian troops are keeping supply routes under control, despite the “creeping” offensive of the Russian occupiers over the past six weeks.
Recently, it was reported in the press center of the Defense Forces of the Tavrya direction that the Russian troops somewhat slowed down the pace of assault operations in the Vuhledar area. Sometimes units of the occupiers attack without armored vehicles.
Earlier, the Armed Forces of Ukraine defeated the 155th Marine Brigade of the Russian Federation near Vuhledar.
