Ukraine and a number of countries sign agreement on establishment of the Center for Investigation of Russian Crimes in The Hague – Kostin

The General Prosecutors of the countries members of the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) have signed an agreement to establish an International Center for the Investigation of Crimes of Russian Aggression in The Hague, which will start operating in the summer of 2023.

– Today, we have signed an additional agreement to the Joint Investigation Team agreement, which provides for establishing an International Center for Investigation of Crimes of Russian Aggression against Ukraine in The Hague based on Eurojust, – said Prosecutor General of Ukraine Andriy Kostin.

According to him, the center is supposed to be staffed by prosecutors who will collect evidence of the crime of aggression.

In addition, the Office of the Prosecutor General is going to share with the prosecutors of the center in The Hague the evidence of crimes of aggression that has already been accumulated in the department.

It is tentatively planned that the center will start operating in July 2023.

The Prosecutor General added that the work of this International Center would be the first step toward creating a Special Tribunal to condemn the crime of aggression of the Russian political and military elite against Ukraine.
