The decision to launch a counteroffensive should be made by the Ukrainian military command, not by parquet generals and Western experts on social media.

Military analyst Tom Cooper writes about this.

He notes that he would like to see Americans who complain about the use of ammunition by Ukrainians save it when they come into contact with the enemy.

Watching now

The constant calls for a Ukrainian counteroffensive are reminiscent of the analytics on Iran in late 1980 and early 1981. Back then, the Iranian public pushed its own army to launch a counteroffensive for which it was simply not ready.

– In January 1981, the Iranian army launched this major counteroffensive: it brought an armored division with three brigades of Chieftain tanks into well-prepared Iraqi positions. At the wrong time, in the middle of the rainy season. Half of the tanks were lost when they got stuck in the mud, and another third were disabled by Iraqi T-72s. Thanks to politicians, parquet generals and war correspondents: many people died. Nothing was achieved,” he wrote.

“It took Iran another 1.5 years of preparation before the army was really ready for battle. Only then did they defeat the Iraqi army in Khuzestan and liberate the entire province at once.

Tom Cooper believes that now the Ukrainian army is not ready to launch a counteroffensive, as it lacks ammunition, air defense systems, well-trained troops and commanders.

He calls on the public to calm down, be patient and not to rush the Ukrainian army, as this is not a video game where you can cheat with endless supplies of ammunition and troops.

– This is a big, massive, bloody, dirty war. Such wars are won not by beating your chest and not by verbosity, but by patience, thorough reconnaissance, lots of training, sufficient ammunition and supplies, exhaustion of the enemy while preparing enough of your own troops, and careful choice of time and place for attack. This is not your business, not mine, and not the business of all the other possible parquet generals and military correspondents on social media. This is the business of the generals of the Armed Forces of Ukraine,” Tom Cooper summarized.
