Cabinet of Ministers launches accelerated production of drones in Ukraine – Fedorov

Кабмін дав старт прискореному виробництву БпЛА в Україні

The Ukrainian government has adopted a resolution that will accelerate the creation and supply of domestic drones to the frontline and prepare conditions for the rapid development of the Ukrainian military technology industry.

This was announced by Mykhailo Fedorov, Deputy Prime Minister for Innovation, Education, Science and Technology, Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine.

The minister called the decision “historic” and could accelerate Ukraine’s victory and develop the UAV market in the country.

– Bold economic and political decisions have always been an essential component of victory. World War I and World War II, Vietnam or Afghanistan – in addition to the events on the battlefield, these wars were also decisive in the actions of governments that created preferences and conditions for the development of the defense industry, diversified the economy and put it on a “military track,” he explained.

According to him, today the Cabinet of Ministers has launched mass production of drones in Ukraine.

– “A truly historic resolution was adopted for victory, which will significantly accelerate the creation and supply of domestic drones to the front, and most importantly, will create conditions for the rapid development of Ukrainian miltech (military-tech, military technology – Ed.),” he wrote.

According to him, within the framework of the Coordination Headquarters for the production of drones, all Ukrainian UAV manufacturers were comprehensively worked out.

– We have collected their pains and blockers and are moving systematically to resolve the issues. Together with the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Strategic Industry and the SSSCIP,” the Minister wrote.

Mykhailo Fedorov says that today’s decision will allow UAV manufacturers to develop more actively, scale up, reinvest profits and compete with foreign companies.

– “Instead of spending months on unnecessary paperwork and bureaucracy, we will be able to speed up the approval of UAVs for operation, their purchase and delivery to the frontline,” he explained.

The minister points out that it is important that the resolution fundamentally changes the government’s approach to the small business itself.

– “Previously, the profit margin for foreign components was 1%, and 30% for domestic goods and services. This regulation hindered the development of Ukrainian manufacturers, encouraging them to move abroad or manipulate documents. This had to be changed. In order to stimulate the development of UAVs in Ukraine and attract more companies to produce, scale, and increase the level of localization of kits, the state raised the profit share to 25%,” he explained.

Mykhailo Fedorov says that a month ago, the Ukrainian government removed the problem of expert control of dual-use goods by adopting an expedited procedure for drones.

– And now we can officially say that the Army of Drones project has grown from a conditionally volunteer project into a large-scale state program to support the development of the domestic UAV market. This is a direct path to victory and saving the lives of our defenders,” he wrote.

Minister Fedorov thanked the Prime Minister personally for his “great political will” and the Cabinet of Ministers as a whole for supporting this important initiative.
