Negotiations on a ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia are currently impossible.

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken stated this.

– For some, the idea of a ceasefire may be tempting, and I understand that. But if it means de facto ratification of Russia’s seizure of significant Ukrainian territories, it will not be a just and lasting peace, – he said.

Blinken believes Russia could use the ceasefire to regroup its troops to attack again after a while.

Watching now

– Russia has to get to the point where it is ready for constructive negotiations. The goal should be a just and lasting peace, – the US Secretary of State emphasized.

Earlier, White House National Security Council Coordinator John Kirby said that only Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has the right to decide whether he is ready to negotiate with Russia.
