President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy plans to visit Turkey in the near future, where he intends to meet with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
The Ukrainian leader announced this on Thursday, July 6, during a joint press conference with the President of the Czech Republic, Petr Pavel.
– Regarding Turkey. Today, we must accumulate all the leaders of the Alliance in order to put pressure on the Russian Federation not only on the battlefield. Press together. We have a few questions to discuss. This is a grain initiative. This is a very important issue of supporting Ukraine in NATO. This is an exchange of prisoners, – he said.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy added that Ukraine has “many topics” to discuss with Turkey. The head of the Ukrainian state also hopes that it will be possible to reach certain agreements with the Turkish president.
News that President Zelenskyy plans to visit Turkey appeared the day before. It was noted that the visit of the Ukrainian leader and negotiations with Recep Erdogan will take place in Istanbul, before the start of the NATO summit, of which Turkey is also a member.
