The main thing is not speed: the GUR told about the tactics of warfare
Commanders of the Security and Defence Forces of Ukraine value the lives of their soldiers, so the main actions on the battlefield are not focused on speed, but on surprise and accuracy of strikes against the enemy.
This was stated by Vadym Skibitskyi, a representative of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, in an interview with the North Macedonian media outlet Civilmedia.mk.
According to him, the Ukrainian military is doing everything to disable the enemy – to cut off supply routes, destroy weapons depots, win counter-artillery battles, and destroy enemy intelligence and air defence assets.
– Russia’s large-scale aggression was aimed at a blitzkrieg – the rapid capture and subjugation of the whole of Ukraine. Before the invasion on 24 February 2022, experts believed that Ukraine would not last long. But the aggressor got a kick in the teeth. And we will continue to do so… And the main thing here is not so much speed as surprise and accuracy of the shot,” Skibitskyi said.
The GUR representative stressed that for a successful counter-offensive, Ukraine needs more ammunition, air defence systems, demining equipment, and long-range precision weapons.
Currently, the situation on the battlefield is difficult, but the Armed Forces of Ukraine have the initiative, everything is going according to plan.
The Ukrainian military responds quickly to changes in the situation on the battlefield. Military intelligence reveals the enemy’s intentions, and the Defence Forces thwart them, Skibitskyi said.
– “Yes, we recognise that the enemy is well entrenched in the occupied Ukrainian territories: large minefields, several lines of fortifications – all this certainly affects the pace of our advance. However, for those who think that Ukraine is too slow in its offensive, I would say that war is not a sporting event,” the GUR representative emphasised.
