They want to leave us without electricity and heat. Russia will try to attack the power system again – the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine
As the weather gets colder, the occupiers may once again concentrate their missile attacks on critical infrastructure to leave Ukrainians without electricity and heat, but Ukraine is already preparing for such scenarios.
Vadym Skibitskyi, a representative of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, told the Macedonian media outlet Civilmedia in an interview.
– “It is obvious that Russia will again try to destroy our energy system in autumn and winter to deprive Ukrainians of light and heat, demoralise our society and cause a new wave of forced emigration,” he said.
According to Skibitsky, the Russian military is currently conducting reconnaissance to identify priority energy system facilities for possible air attacks.
– “We are aware of these enemy plans and are already preparing for winter in the summer. And the Ukrainian offensive, as I said, continues. So we will see what happens by winter,” the intelligence officer added.
Russia’s attacks on energy facilities
A total of 402 settlements remain without power due to hostilities and other reasons. Power supply is restored with the permission of the military and the security situation.
As a reminder, Ukrenergo urged not to get rid of generators, but rather to take care of their technical condition and stock up on additional fuel. Volodymyr Kudrytskyi, Chairman of the Board of NPC Ukrenergo, noted that the power company is doing everything possible to ensure an efficient and stable heating season. Repairs of equipment damaged by the Russians are underway, and infrastructure is being modernised.
